CEREC-Crown-in-a-Day

If we lived in an ideal world, then everyone would have a perfect set of healthy teeth for life. Unfortunately, this is impossible, due to disease, accidents, and a number of other factors. This is why you can count on Dr. Rawdin to utilize the latest dental technology to restore your smile.

Often, a dental crown is the perfect solution.

Covering a broken or cracked tooth, a dental crown can help restore the tooth’s shape and size while also strengthening and improving its appearance. While offering a number of benefits, crowns do necessitate multiple dental office visits.

Until now!

You no longer have to go through the wait of two appointments over a two-to-three week period to get your dental crown. Dr. Rawdin is one of the few dental offices that can provide you with custom porcelain restorations on-demand by using the CEREC CAD/CAM system.

Thanks to this amazing new technique, near-perfect tooth restorations are not only possible, but can be done in just one visit!

What is CEREC®?

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This revolutionary system allows Dr. Rawdin to design, create, and fit your new crown in a single visit. Using a computer and digital technology, we can scan an image of your tooth and design a precise crown for your tooth, all while you sit comfortably.

The multi-instrument CEREC system consists of a newly developed light-emitting diode (LED) camera, a computer with 3-D imaging software, and a milling unit with diamond blades for quick, precise, and highly detailed construction of restorations.

The Benefits of CEREC

CEREC restorations offer several advantages over conventional laboratory-made restorations:

Single-Appointment Dental Care – With CEREC, you only need one dentist's office visit, rather than the usual two or three visits required for conventional restoration procedures.

No Temporary Restorations – Traditional restoration procedures require you to wear a temporary restoration while your permanent restoration is created in the laboratory. CEREC eliminates the potential issues of temporary restorations.

Complete Control by Your Dentist – Your restoration is handled completely by Dr. Rawdin – from design to fabrication – so he has complete control over how your crown will look and fit. With a crown made in a laboratory, the possibility of complications increases, as the crown is under the control of a technician who must rely solely upon the impressions and dental imagery provided by the dentist.

Fine Materials – CEREC restores your teeth with durable, tooth-colored ceramic materials that will return your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and functionality. These teeth will match the composition of your natural teeth, making it possible for you to eat hot or cold foods without the worry of the tooth cracking from extreme temperatures.

What is Involved in the CEREC Procedure?

Dr. Rawdin will begin the process by preparing your tooth with traditional techniques before fitting a crown. From there, instead of taking a conventional impression of your tooth, he will take a digital picture using the CEREC camera.

Using CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, the CEREC software converts this picture to a 3-D virtual model of your tooth.

Once the design of your tooth is completed, Dr. Rawdin sends the data to the on-site CEREC milling unit. This design will be perfectly reproduced by diamond-coated instruments that mill a ceramic block. Available in a wide variety of shades and colors, the block that matches your surrounding teeth will be selected, and the entire process takes under 30 minutes.

Once the milling process is complete, Dr. Rawdin will polish the filling or crown, then properly bond it into place. The crown is sure to fit perfectly, due to the precision of the design process. Your new and greatly improved tooth is then polished, resulting in a smooth and natural look and feel.

That's it! You don’t have to go through any messy impressions, temporary dental crowns, or multiple appointments. In fact, the whole procedure usually takes no more than an hour and a half.

Thanks to our mastery of the CEREC approach, many of Dr. Rawdin's patients have benefited from saving a lot of time while receiving a beautiful, durable smile. Find out if you can achieve the same results. Contact our office today to schedule an appointment.
